The criminal justice bachelor's degree program offers a broad-based overview of the
criminal justice system and its components as well as the opportunity to focus in
your area of interest by taking specific elective courses. The degree is offered as
a bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree.
Career Preparation
Criminal Justice and Social Work Virtual Reality Lab
The CJSW VR Lab utilizes the WRAP Reality training platform designed for and used
by law enforcement and other professional organizations. The lab allows students to
experience a nearly infinite number of real-world scenarios in order to interact with
and help people in need, develop interpersonal skills, stress and crisis management,
verbal de-escalation, and more; and be trained by ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä State faculty members, law
enforcement professionals, and others. The CJSW VR lab is also used by local and state
agencies to train their own personnel.
Physical Abilities Preparation
For those students going into law enforcement and corrections who will need to pass
a physical abilities test, we have partnered with ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä State’s Exercise Science
program to provide training specifically tailored to prepare students for academy
physical abilities entrance tests. While built for future officers and corrections
staff, students pursuing legal careers are also encouraged to participate.
Earn your degree in three years
Most students choose to complete their undergraduate college education in the traditional
four-year time span, but it is possible to earn your degree in 3 years. It requires
a little extra work during the school year as well as some summer and winter-term
courses, but you can complete your education and begin your career a full year sooner
than the traditional path. This degree plan is just an example - you will work with
your advisor to find the best path for you.

Notes about the 3-year program
*course noted here as one option of many which can be selected from a list
**choice of electives determined by students’ professional goals in consultation with
their academic advisor
- This curriculum map is designed solely for the purposes of guidance and planning during
the academic advising process. It is not meant to be followed exactly as it is unknown
if/when certain courses will be offered and to allow for changes/updates in the curriculum.
- Changes can be made to the plan as needed or allowed by the individual student's circumstances.
For example, heavy semester may be lightened by credits from high school (e.g. dual-credit
courses, AP credit) or by taking more than six credit hours during a summer session.
- As with all such academic plans, this is not a guarantee of success or graduation
in a three-year period. Graduation is contingent upon successful completion of all
university requirements.
